I often get messages from horse owners who write to me saying that they would love to book a shoot but don't believe that the pictures will turn out beautifully.
The reason? Your horse is older.
Perhaps it has a lot of grey hair or its coat is tousled and dull - for example due to cushing syndrome. Perhaps the muscles are no longer as harmonious as they used to be. The body is changing, yes.
But that is precisely why now the right time to capture precious memories.
Especially in this phase of life, horses carry a special dignity. Something very deep and touching.
Some may only see an "imperfect" appearance.
I see a wise soul with infinite expression.
Others see an old horse that perhaps no longer shines like the young horse in the neighbouring pasture.
I see a horse that has been faithfully at your side all its life, that has gone through ups and downs with you - a horse of the heart that has made it to the top. more than deservedto be seen and celebrated.
My unpopular opinion? Older horses are just as photogenic - if not even more expressive - than young horses. I love photographing them. Their eyes tell stories. Their demeanour, so gentle and proud at the same time, touches my heart again and again.
They deserve their beauty to be visible. They deserve to be in the spotlight - with all the traces that life has left behind.
As someone once wrote so beautifully:
"All living beings that are viewed with love are beautiful."
And imagine you have a picture in your hands that visualises all this love, all this bond between you and your horse.
An image that remains.
Write me an email and we will make your photo shoot possible.
The pictures of the beautiful "Tashina" go well with this. She is a little older, has Cushing's, but is no less expressive.
