Do you know the breed "Nokota"?
In March, a dear regular customer asked me if I would like to accompany her to a Nokota breeding centre in France. She has owned a Nokota mare since last year and brought her there for breeding.
So I travelled with them and took photos of these special horses on site. They have a very interesting story: the Nokotas are threatened with extinction.
The breed has only survived thanks to two brothers who are doing everything they can to preserve the last herds. Today, it is also becoming increasingly well-known and popular in Europe.
You can find out more about the breed here.
Authentic horse photos through observation
What makes these photos so special is that none of them are staged. I took photos on the side one evening and one morning. Without giving a single instruction. By observing a lot, looking closely and pressing the shutter release at the right moment. Like a little horse safari.
Horses are very authentic and usually give us exactly the moments we want if we just take our time.

I was simply present. But perhaps that was exactly what made the difference: That the horses could simply be themselves and gave me these motifs.
