A magical autumn day at the Gantrischseeli - Livia & Lady Mayala

Some shoots feel like little adventures - and this one was just such an adventure. Last autumn, I had the pleasure of photographing Livia and her Haflinger x Icelandic mare Lady Mayala for the second time. But this time it was to be a very special location.

I suggested the Gantrischseeli a place that fascinates me every time. Surrounded by wild forests, with the glistening water in the centre, it feels like an enchanted spot, perfect for atmospheric horse photos.

As soon as Livia arrived at the lake with her mare - affectionately known as "Pony" - there was a special calm in the air. The two have been a well-established team for many years and are at home in the academic art of riding according to Bent Branderup. This was immediately noticeable: Lady Mayala moved calmly through the countryside, embraced my every photo idea and radiated an incredible sense of serenity.

Capturing the magic of the moment

The light was soft and the autumnal colours gave the scene a warm atmosphere. We used various locations around the lake, played with perspectives and photographed the harmonious connection between Livia and Lady Mayala.
