Visit to Zaynah on the alp

Last year, Dzhamilja asked me if I would visit her and her mare Zaynah on the alp. She regularly travelled up to her alp, her own personal little oasis.

And my answer? Nothing better than that!
The journey to the Pferdealp is always worthwhile - because the pictures that are created are full of magic and an incomparable atmosphere.

So I made my way to beautiful Graubünden, to Chur to be precise. From there, we travelled up to the alp together. After a cosy picnic in the sun, we found the small herd - and spent the evening with them on an idyllic alpine meadow.

It was a warm summer evening. Even up here at altitude, there was still a pleasant warmth in the air. The sun quickly disappeared behind the mountains and bathed the landscape in soft shadows. An atmosphere that often appears even more intense in pictures.

The many flies buzzing around in the summer air were a bit of a challenge that evening. The horses kept seeking out the shade of the trees from time to time - completely relaxed and at their own pace. And that's perfectly fine - no horse has to stand still forever with me. A few genuine moments are often enough to capture special images.
I simply retouched out the flies afterwards.

Zaynah was wonderfully relaxed and remained completely free with Dzhamilja. The pretty Arabian mare was happy to be persuaded to do a little photo shoot with a few treats.

Such memories are priceless. They don't just capture an image - they capture a feeling.
