They live there in larger herds and move freely over rocky slopes and through the forests. For a few months, they are allowed to be wild again. It is this freedom that I wanted to make tangible with this collection. None of the horses were positioned or influenced by humans for the photos. I simply connected with them using my camera, observed them, and waited. And I took photos in the appropriate moments.

When I look at the pictures today, I immediately return to that place above. I can feel the wind on my face and smell the fresh mountain herbs. I remember the cool air just before sunrise and the gentle chewing of the horses somewhere nearby. It is a tranquility that I can only feel in the mountains.

Every photo is a small piece of Alpsommer that you can take home with you. More specifically, they were on their way from the upper part of the Alp down to the lake to drink there.

It’s always magical for me when, as a photographer, you imagine a moment and it actually happens exactly like that. Not because you guided the horses there or forced them to do something, but simply through patience and the right moment.

I named this picture «Never alone» because these four were always together on the road. Although there were other horses in the herd. Although they could move freely over a huge area, they always found each other again.

This image for me combines the feeling of freedom with the feeling of belonging. How wonderful is it that these two feelings can exist simultaneously?

This art print is limited to 10 copies per format.

This photo is part of my Mountain Magic Collection.

In Switzerland, many horses are allowed to spend the summer on the Alp.
