Then read on.
I have been capturing unique moments between horse and human for over 12 years. I am the only photographer in Switzerland to offer moon shoots because they are just as magical as you and your horse - and because I know exactly how to play with light to create unforgettable images.
How does a moon shoot work?
We meet at sunset. Ideally, you will have already observed where the moon will be visible in the days before - then we will choose a suitable location together. This could be in the meadow, in a field or on a hill. Thanks to my experience with natural lighting conditions, I know exactly when and where we can capture the perfect moonlight.
We start with photos in the golden hour, so that you not only get poetic silhouette shots, but also classic portraits of you and your horse.
The shoot lasts well into the blue hour, and your unique moon photo is created at the end.
I will guide you gently so that no rigid poses or long periods of standing still are necessary - the connection between you and your horse is always at the centre of attention.
This photo was taken during the golden hour in the mountains. In the background you can see the sun setting over the Jura. The interplay of natural light and perspective makes the pictures look authentic and unique.
What if it's too dark that day?
Moon shoots only take place in good weather. To capture the perfect light, we meet in good time. If necessary, we take a short break to get the timing right.
In this photo, I was standing slightly below the gelding Nakoa on a hill. This perspective is ideal for moon photos.
And when the moon is covered by clouds?
If some clouds obscure the moon, we simply wait a little - they often move on quickly. In the meantime, your horse can relax or we can take the opportunity to take some more wonderful shots.
If, contrary to expectations, the weather is worse than forecast, we will repeat the shoot on another day free of charge.
For Kangal's farewell photos, we met up very early in the morning and photographed him in the meadow. Nel just sat down with him and enjoyed the time with him, which resulted in some magical pictures.
Other frequently asked questions about moon shoots
Does my horse have to be able to do something special? Don't worry, your horse doesn't have to have any special skills. Even if it is still young or a little nervous, we will take our time and create a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks to my experience with different types of horses, I know how to show even sensitive or young horses in the best light.
What should I wear? Choose an outfit that you feel comfortable in - preferably in natural colours and flowing fabrics that show beautifully when you move.
Do I need experience in front of the camera? Many of my clients have never had their photos taken professionally before - and that's exactly why I guide you gently and sensitively. You don't have to worry about poses. I'll give you tips on how to create unposed and natural images.
How long does the shoot take? A moon shoot usually takes about 45 minutes, depending on the light conditions and the desired motifs. A good feeling is more important to me than finishing at the exact minute.
How much does a moon shoot cost? You can find all the information about the moon shoot here.
